What is a Registered Nurse? Registered nurses care for the sick and injured and help people stay well. They are most concerned with the “whole person,” providing for the physical mental, and emotional needs of their patients. RN’s may be responsible for the supervision of licensed practical nurses, nurse aides and orderlies of the unit.

Submit college transcripts (if applicable) Meet with your advisor. Meet requirements for the applicable qualifying pathway. Pay the $50.00 wait list fee once you meet nursing program admission criteria. Maintain required GPA. Pay the $ deposit when seat is available.
Students entering our College with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse have 2 pathways of qualifying to meet the program’s admission criteria: Completion of the Nursing Care Certificate Program. SAT/ACT qualifications.
Students qualifying via the Nursing Care Certificate pathway must meet the following criteria: Completion of the Nursing Care Certificate Program. TEAS score of Proficient or higher. 2.5 Program GPA.
Students qualifying the SAT/ACT pathway must meet the following criteria: Qualifying SAT or ACT scores (no more than 5 years old) SAT: 480 Reading and 570 Math. ACT: 21 English and 23 Math. TEAS score of Proficient or higher. 2.0 Program GPA.
The curriculum is rigorous; it requires extensive reading, dedicated study time and good time management skills. Annual program admission each Fall semester. Between the coursework and the clinical rotations, successful students should plan to devote approximately 40 hours per week each semester to their nursing studies.
For students who must work, it is highly recommended that they work no more than 20 hours per week.
Clinical rotations are required each semester. Students may be assigned to morning, afternoon or evening clinical anywhere in the tri-county area. Clinical experiences may range from 8-12 hours per clinical day.
Clinical expectations include sitting, standing, walking, frequent bending, squatting, reaching, occasional kneeling, twisting, and exposure to changes in temperature/humidity and fumes. Additional physical requirements include lifting, positioning and moving of patients both manually and with use of assistive equipment. Both hands are used for power grip, speed and precision work.

Physical Exam $ 250. Hepatitis B Exam (Recommended) $ 240. TB Testing (two step PPD required) $ 45. Criminal Background Check $ 55. CPR Certification $ 50. Computer Assisted Testing $ 510. NCLEX-RN Exam $ 200. SC Licensing Fee and Background/Fingerprints $ 145. Graduation Fee/Cap/Gown $ 45. Transportation to Clinical Sites varies.
