Tanuki NAWHT Natural Acid Wash High Tapered Jeans

[Limited to 80 pairs] We are happy to introduce the new Tanuki BluePrint series. The blueprint series consists of 3 different treatments: Acid Wash, Stone Wash and Black Sumi Overdye. This is Acid Wash, a stunning treatment based on the brand's popular Natural Indigo fabric. Tanuki opted for their Natural Indigo fabric for this treatment due to its rich and intense shades of blue. In addition, the natural indigo reacts better to the enzyme wash. This fabric allows for great fades and contrasts, making it unique. The fabric has been rope-dyed by the only mill in Japan able to do this type of natural indigo fabric and used special organic natural indigo from India that cannot be found anywhere else in the Japanese denim industry. This fabric is exclusive in many ways. Made with a low-tension weave, the denim is rich in slub and fuzziness on the surface to rival the beautiful blue of natural indigo. We get always impressed each time Tanuki show us their new projects, and this time, it was no less when they presented this old 1990s favourite. This finish took us back to grungetown circa 1993, where acid wash and bleached denim was rife. Favoured by the cast of Saved By The Bell, acid-washed denim is achieved by soaking pumice stones in chlorine and adding environmentally friendly enzymes, which are filtered out of the water before using it to water the surrounding Okayama rice fields. Regular acid wash treatments are aggressive chemicals, but this is less invasive, so Tanuki needed to use more runs/washes to get this fantastic result. This process has been done in an old washing workshop in Okayama, and has been incredibly time-consuming; that is why Tanuki has been able to produce only 80 pairs for the entire world. A return to the Kurt Cobain-led grunge era has been more than evident during this year at the high-end fashion and streetwear brands, but of course, none of them can offer this kind of craftsmanship and quality. The stitching for this one is quite remarkable: A variety of contrasting red threads which really stand out. The cut is a modern high-tapered fit. The taper is pretty aggressive so that it gives a slim-fitting silhouette while allowing for a lot of space at the thighs with a high rise. Near the back pocket, there is the embroidered Tanuki 二 (Ni) logo, two parallel lines in Japanese Kanji representing the number 2. The lower line represents the past, tradition, the standard, peace. The upper line represents the future, change, strength. The red and blue colours of their logo refer to Japan's flag, honouring their roots as denim artisans. The Tanuki brand was established in 2016 in Okayama Prefecture. It comprises a small group of great artisans who are passionate about denim and boast more than 30 years' experience in other brands in the industry.
